The Global Mental Health Action Network (GMHAN) held its annual meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, on June 28-29, 2023. The meeting was one of the largest ever gatherings of civil society stakeholders working on mental health around the world.
Dr. Taha Sabri, Co-Founder & COO of Taskeen, was one of the speakers at the meeting. He discussed the impact of early detection and intervention to prevent the onset of severe mental illness, and the importance of primary prevention through life skills development and resilience building to promote a healthier society. Dr. Sabri also spoke about Pakistan’s recent decision to decriminalize suicide, which itself is a step forward in creating mental health access and awareness.
