Taskeen, in collaboration with the British Asian Trust as part of the Milkar campaign, conducted a workshop for journalists and reporters focused on ethical mental health reporting. The training aimed to empower media professionals with the knowledge and skills to report on mental health issues responsibly, with an emphasis on sensitivity, accuracy, and ethical principles.
The media holds immense power in shaping public attitudes, and its role in mental health reporting is pivotal. It is time to move away from narratives that perpetuate stigma and discrimination. Instead, journalists can serve as catalysts for change by fostering understanding, empathy, and acceptance, contributing to a society where mental health is supported, not shamed.
