Our younger generations are surrounded by technology. With each passing day technological advancements are increasing. Along with this, economic pressure is also increasing, every person has to find suitable career and support their families. There is an enormous pressure on our generation to excel in education, due to ever increasing competition. Finding jobs is also stressful because of a saturated job market. On the other hand there are people who are financially stable but have anxieties, relationship issues and other mental problems.
With all these stresses and pressures there is something that we neglect, a major contributor in our growth and prosperity, which is well-being. What is well-being? Well-being is a multi-dimensional concept. Well-being includes all aspects of our daily life ranging from economic conditions, education to mental health. In order to achieve well-being in society every aspect of well-being needs to be improved. Considering all the aspects of well-being the most important one is subjective well-being. Subjective well-being increases with increase in happiness, satisfaction with current life status and self-worthiness. Many people do not have awareness about importance of mental health and how it affects our well-being.
We all need to prioritize our well-being. To achieve well-being of the society we need to focus on our own mental health and on the mental health of people surrounding us. We all experience distress. It’s how we deal with it varies individually and matters the most at the end of the day. Having positive relationships, being active and having positive outlook on life contributes to our well-being. A society which has people with positive emotions and healthy mind will have high well-being. All of us need to join hands for this purpose, we cannot achieve our goal until we all work together in uplifting each other. Every one of us needs to understand the importance of health & well-being.
