On the 24th of May, the Pakistan Mental Health Coalition (PMHC) organized a stakeholder event at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Karachi. The purpose of this event was to foster collaboration amongst various mental health stakeholders and address the important issue of ethical principles for mental health professionals. Spearheaded by the Quality Standards Sub-Committee of PMHC comprising of Taskeen, British Asian Trust, Savaira and Sehat Kahani. Notably, Senator Dr. Karim Khwaja was also in attendance, lending his expertise and insights to the much-needed conversation surrounding ethical guidelines and principles in the field of mental health. The event brought together an array of participants, ranging from mental health professionals in Karachi to individuals with personal experiences of mental illnesses. The group engaged in a meaningful and thought-provoking discussion, delving into crucial ethical aspects such as integrity, confidentiality, and respect for human dignity. The collaborative efforts of the PMHC and its stakeholders have undoubtedly paved the way for a more ethical and compassionate approach to mental health care in Pakistan.
