On August 4, 2025, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Health Minister of Sindh, officially endorsed the Code of Conduct developed by the Quality Standards and Advocacy working group. This marks a significant step forward in strengthening ethical standards in mental health service delivery across the province.

The endorsement followed a meeting between the Health Minister, Taskeen, and the British Asian Trust, where discussions focused on the importance of integrating the Code into existing health programs and curricula for mental health professionals. The dialogue highlighted the critical role of mental health in overall well-being, the pressing need for ethical guidelines, and the persistent gaps in delivery systems.

The Code of Conduct is designed to provide a unified ethical framework to guide mental health professionals and programs, ensuring dignity, accountability, and quality care for all. Its adoption is a milestone in Pakistan’s journey towards people-centred, rights-based mental health systems.
