Taskeen, in Collaboration with Karachi Relief Trust, Conducted Training in Buner to Equip Local University Students as Community Wellbeing Mentors for Flood-Affected Areas.

In collaboration with the Karachi Relief Trust, Taskeen conducted a two-day training program in Buner district to strengthen community-based mental health support in flood-affected areas from 25th – 27th September.

The initiative aimed to bring together university students, training them to be Community Wellbeing Mentors (CWMs), equipping them with the knowledge and skills to carry out mental health screenings and referrals in their communities. Participants were trained on globally recognized screening tools such as the PHQ-9 (for depression) and GAD-7 (for anxiety), alongside sessions on stress management, wellbeing practices, effective communication, and empathetic listening.

This initiative aims to ensure that vulnerable communities impacted by floods receive timely and appropriate mental health support. By enabling CWMs to act as frontline resources, Taskeen and Karachi Relief Trust are helping to build a stronger foundation for community resilience and recovery.
