On May 2nd, 2025, the Taskeen Community team visited the Urban Cohesion Hub in Karachi as part of the ongoing Psycho-social Empowerment and Community Engagement (PEACE) program. The purpose of the visit was to engage in a meaningful dialogue with lay counsellors or Community Wellbeing Mentors (CWMs) and the hub psychologist about their ongoing fieldwork. Additionally, the team introduced the Digital Patient Information Management System (DPIMS) and conducted training sessions for the CWMs and the hub psychologist on its usage.
Taskeen’s PEACE Program for Afghan Refugee and Host Communities is designed to address critical psychosocial issues faced by this demographic in Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Chaman. By combining community-based approaches with digital tools, the program aims to offer culturally sensitive mental health support, enhance service accessibility, build resilience, and develop a scalable model tailored to the psychosocial needs of the community. The recent visit also highlighted the CWMs’ efforts in raising awareness and expanding the program’s outreach and impact.
